My mother and I on my Birthday. She had just been diagnosed with cancer 1 month earlier.

In our youth, many of the things we do are in ignorance. Unfortunately some people choose to remain in that same state all of their lives. Me, I love learning (about others but especially about myself). I get excited whenever I develop a deeper and broader understanding about anything. When I approached my 30s, I came to realize that as a young adult, my relationships (especially my relationship with my mother) had been shaped largely in part by some of the things I thought I knew. In 2010, I moved to Georgia where my mother was living at the time…

My mother on her wedding day in Jamaica 1966

This had only been my second encounter with the passing of a close family member, the first being my grandmother in 1998 and then my mother in 2015. She was 67 years old. For example, I also view “showing up at someone’s door” as calling on them…

Through these entries you will begin to get to know me and see how my thoughts transition over the years. WARNING: Extremely religious content here. I was leaning into my faith for strength to get me through this time and that is evident in my writings.

Good Deeds
Our good deeds are not the means to salvation. They are rather only a reflection of our…
